Noted Venezuelan singer, winner of the first season of the latin version of American Idol. Creator of the method that carries her name, and founder of “Mayré Martínez Singing Academy”.At age 4 she began to study with an array of private teachers form all over the World, and studied Music at the Conservatorio Lino Gallardo and Keyboards at the Roland Learning Center.
Early into her studies, she concerted many school events; and in 1994 began to sing professionally in countless productions and television spots for companies such as Mattel, Ford, Chinotto and Fundición Pacífico, among others.
In 1998 she was invited by Ricardo Montaner to sing by his side on his "Es Así" Tour.
From 1999 through to 2001 she gave several concerts around Venezuela and abroad alongside Producer/Guitarist Iván Weinreb, recieving the 2000 Internacional Talent Award from the Latin American Song Festival (Festival de la Canción Latinoamericana) in California, USA, for "Con Nadie Más", written by both. This award had only been given twice in 21 years of nominations.
In 2001 Mayré Martínez, along with Iván Weinreb, decided to create the Singing Academy (Academia de Canto El Arte de Cantar), teaching Mayré Martínez’s own method. Since that year, Mayré and her team have succesfully held the Mayré Martínez Singer’s Festival (Festival de Cantantes Mayré Martínez), where the alumni present the result of their hard work to their friends and family.
They conjunctly create the Daily Vocal Training System (El Plan de Entrenamiento Vocal Diario), first in the Voz Series, to offer all singing lovers and voice professionals a complete and independent vocalization system.
Towards the end of that same year, the Internacional Association of Musical Education included Mayré's academy in their directory of related organizations, aknowledging it as the best of its kind in Venezuela.
Later in 2005 and 2006, this multifaceted artist took part in the highest rated reality show in Venezuela, Fama Sudor y Lágrimas, where she sung every Sunday on primetime televisión for 9 months, reaching an audience of over 11 million, and always getting top marks.In the year 2006, she competed in the first season of the latin version of
“American Idol”. Witnessed by millions of viewers in over 26 countries in Latin America, the biggest talent search this continent had ever seen, and topping 25.000 contestants, Mayré is chosen by audience and judges as the first Latin American Idol.Back in Venezuela with one of the most celebrated triumphs in her country’s recent history, she becomes the most “printed” celebrity in the media history of her home country.
The famed tv show Sábado Sensacional dedicated her a special show, full of heart-warming, personal surprises, and declared November Fourth to be Mayré Martínez Day in Venezuela. She was later invited to receive one of the most important awards an artist can receive in Venezuela, The Orchid (La Orquídea), in a category created specially for her: ”The Orchid of Merit” (“Orquídea Al Mérito”)At year’s end she had already added another important award to her list. The ”2 de Platino”, for Breakthrough Performer with Most International Reach, is given to her by RCTV.
Still managing to pursue a growing singing career, Mayré continues at the head of her singing academy where she has prepared extraordinary educators to teach her singing method and further help the birth of new artists.
Taking advantage of her insight on these type of contests, she holds a workshop called RealiTips, with the help of fellow Latin American Idol contestant, John Paul Ospina, in hopes to prepare her students to compete on the next edition. That’s how Silvia De Freitas, one of Mayré’s students since age 12 and afterwards teacher at the academy, came out 5th on season 2 of Latin American Idol, making her the only Venezuelan contestant that season.

She kicks off to a great 2007, landing advertising campaigns with celebrated shoe brand Kickers, and Digitel, one of the top names in Venezuela’s telecommunications. They took her on a cross-country tour, made a video for her single, “Soy Mi Destino” and a cable tv special for music network HTV.
On August 21st, she celebrated the release of her first album, a themed CD+DVD set reviving the highlights of her Latin American Idol days, including the songs that fueled her success at LAI’s grand finale: “Soy Mi Destino” by Jon Secada and “Quiero Soñar” by Obie Bermúdez and Sebastián Krys
On May 25th 2008, she released “La Reina de la Noche” off her upcoming album, over the internet, on her website http://www.mayremartinez.com/.
